Beyond

dsquared2

I am out of words...... I remember seeing these, on the AW catwalk, a few months back and going oh my god, but now seeing them close up... I mean.. beyond. My two biggest obsessions together in perfect harmony. No, this is too much, I got to lay down.

You asked for it..

Hey everyone! so here you go.. a little bit of shoe porn for you. When I moved to london it turned out that finding the perfect shoe shelf was harder than I thought.. after a intense search I decided that the only way to get what I wanted.. was to build it myself. So after a lot of blood, toil, sweat and tears.. my life was finally in order again.

and here are answers to some of your questions:

I read that you're from Finland, so I would like to know how well do you speak Finnish?

Yes I am finnish and speak it fluently but have swedish as my mother language (around 5 % of the people in finland are finnish-swedish)

When did you move to London?
Last summer.. I can not believe it’s been almost a year!

What do you do for a living?
I work as a freelance stylist, personal shopper and do some design jobs when I get the chance

How tall are you?
More like how short are you.. I am only 163 cm!

Do you often visit to Finland?

Not as often as I want to, but around every 3 month

You study at a fashion academy, right? did you just search in for it or were you chosen?
Yes I study at London college of fashion.. first I applied and got called in for an interview where I presented my portfolio and then got accepted.

What made you decide to start blogging and how do you find the time to keep up with it?
I have been reading blogs for years and planned to start my own for quite a while. When I finally got my life in order and moved to london, it felt like a good time. It does require some time and dedications but I hardly ever dress down so the stuff I wear in my post is what I wear to school or when I go out..

What inspired the name of your blog?

I wanted it to have something to do with high heels.. as I never really use flats. I did not want to go with anything typical so when I asked a friend what she though of 5 inch and up, she started laughing and said it’s misleading.. I knew it had to be it..

What/who would you say are your biggest style influences?

I read different magazines daily, both men’s and women’s. I am also aware of what is presented on the catwalks and like to take some of the elements and fit them in my style. Other blogs, especially street-style ones are the best for inspiration and ideas. Not just for the styling but also for the beautiful pictures.

Who takes your photos?
My boyfriend, who I live with.. and my lovely friend Tasha, who I am lucky to have

What camera do you use?
Canon EOS 500D... I can very much recommend it!

What´s the biggest difference in dressing, between UK and Finland?
I would say the style of dressing in the UK is very much street inspired with bold colors and daring ideas. I think the whole ‘london vintage market culture’ inspires a lot of young people and that is what london if know for. In finland the style is more minimalistic and simple, in a good way. People don't really flash the brands so to say..

Why did you choose to study fashion in London, did you apply to any school in Finland?
I applied to two schools in finland and LCF.. I only got a place at LCF so the choice was quite clear

Can you do a post on your flat?
YES! very much planning to do it! As soon as I clean it..

Nude

miu miu collar
american apparel shirt
vintage rings
vintage levi's shorts
turban from london market

pictures by tasha

I got this miu miu collar a while ago, finally came around taking a few snaps of if... funny how a a collar totally changes an outfit.. best thing about it is how random it is to have naked chicks on a yellow collar.. I love it.  The turban was something I stumbled across by accident one day at the market! I bough a few extra in different colors that I am selling in my store..

and hey, I have got a few messages about people asking me to help with shipping the miu miu inspired river island shoes outside UK, so I listed a few pairs on ebay! good luck bidding!

Aqua launch party

Aqua dress
river island heels
lapponia silver ring
clover web bracelet from bonadrag
other rings vintage

pictures by Tasha

So finally, pictures from Aqua's carnaby street store launch party, that took place last week! Thank you to all the lovely people over at Aqua, who welcomed me with open arms! needless to say I have a new obsession, so expect to see my in much more of their dresses in the future..

The party was so much fun! I had the privilege to mingle around with inspiring people like Susie from style bubble, Ryan who is the genius behind the designs of Aqua, and beautiful Laura, seen in the last picture, who is the brand manager and muse, she also runs Aqua's blog. Thank you Tasha for helping me with the pictures..

The collections are designed by Ryan Holliday-Stevens, who even had time to answer a few questions! so here we go..

When did you start Aqua and what was your thoughts behind the idea?
Aqua was started as a platform to support new independent designers. We worked closely with graduates and new labels to offer a commercial marketplace to test new designs. Over the past ten years we have gradually turned into a own label brand building a design team headed by Ryan Holliday-Stevens.

Where did you study?
I studied in Leeds, Huddersfield and Batley. I spent two years at university but never finished my degree as my own label had taken off. I went on my sandwich year and did work placement at my own company I had set up. It was after this year that Julie and I started to work together on a full time basis.

Who is your ideal customer?
We like confident fashion savvy girls who are bold and not afraid to stand out!

What makes Aqua different from others?
Well we have 12 in season collections a year, which translates to new designs every week. And of course our price point really makes a difference, no where else in this price band offers pieces so directional
.

Where do you get your inspiration? Do you have a muse?
We work together as a team, I think that really helps as quite often the end result is a shared vision rather than just my own. Laura our brand manager is my muse, we work and live together so its rare our creative heads are not switched on.

What are the biggest challenges?
I think opening in London has been the biggest challenge to date, and of course the pressure of every collection having to be better than the last. But we all thrive on that here, it's what makes us tick.

What's excites you?
Being part of a brand from day one, its such an amazing thing to be part of, having the opportunity to take in whatever direction we see fit.

Web solutions

alexander wang bra
zara clogs
h&m bug ring
marc jacobs spiral ring

A huge thank you to rouge et noir for gifting me with this amazing shredded dress! I love how the dramatically draped back, paired with the short front transforms in to the most versatile piece ever.. leaves me lusting for pretty much every single item in their store. I got dressed in a hurry and it was not until later that I realized how perfect the bug ring fitted in to the scenery. Look closely and you'll see my chanel tattoos peeking through the web.. I wore them to a wedding the day before.. but more on that later...

plus in completely unrelated news.. to the ones that wanted to buy the miu miu-ish swallow socks... I now have more in my shop
